Intro and Bugfixes


Hi!

After making the first version of Pareidolia for a quick weekend game jam, we got quite a bit of positive feedback (which I'm absolutely stoked about, I never thought something I helped make would get the attention of random strangers lol). Our team decided to make this project a bit bigger in scope, and we are in the process of writing a story and creating a more narrative-driven version of Pareidolia. As the project is simply a prototype at the moment, we will be adding a lot more features to the game.

Presently, there is no way to win this game, but that isn't as important to us as creating a story right now. That said, we made quite a few bugfixes and added a couple of aesthetic things to make the prototype feel a little better as a demonstration.

Additions:

  • Added greyskies splashscreen
  • Added Menu SFX
  • Added reverb

Changes:

  • Reworked main menu to look nicer
  • Added low-pass filter to rain SFX to sound more like it's outside
  • Shrunk in game UI elements
  • Removed debug ability that allowed player to throw shelves around

Fixes:

  • Changed in-game UI to be affected by the rendering pipeline (the dot in the corner matches the rest of the screen now)
  • Fixed an issue where Toby (the demon) would get stuck after throwing a shelf

Currently Fixing:

  • Reworking spawn animation (the current one makes Toby turn into spaghetti for a couple seconds)
